Events

PARDS holds fundraising events each year to help fund our programs and operations. Our ultimate goal is to provide our clients with the wonderful benefits of riding regardless of their financial circumstance which is why we provide our services at a nominal fee.

If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of any of our events, whether it be as an individual, business or organization, please contact us at 780-538-3211 for more information.

PARDS 27th Annual Fund Ride - Saturday, June 9, 2012

The Fund Ride is one of PARDS two major annual fundraisers which raise money for operations, rider sponsorship, facility maintenance, specialized riding equipment and much more.

Participants obtain pledge sheets prior to the event and raise money for PARDS. We start the day off with a hearty pancake breakfast, where approximately 150 participants then head out on the trail of their choice.

The horse trail ride is a relaxing 10 or 20 km pleasure horseback ride for all ages through the rolling sandy trails behind Evergreen Park.

The ATV trail will be held out at the Dunes and is going to be approximately 30 kms of trail through Evergreen Park’s vast forest filled with hilled terrain, marsh to get dirty and wildlife to keep you on your toes!

Don’t have a horse or an ATV? There are enough trails for any participant to choose to walk, bike or what ever gets you going!

After the ride, participants can sit down and relax at our future facility site before the evening BBQ and awards ceremony. The Fund Ride has become a high profile event over the past years thanks to the endless support of our community and the Peace Region.

4th Annual PARDS Extraordinary People (PEP) Games - Saturday, June 9, 2012

In conjunction with our Fund Ride, we will be holding our Annual PEP Games. We added the PEP Games as a regular event with the Fund Ride so everyone, regardless of ability is able to take part in the day and fundraise with us. The PEP Games offers a variety of games and activities for all levels of participation held between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the site of our future facility, specifically for those participants who are not able to use the trails (although everyone is welcome to participate).

As with the Fund Ride, participants will gather pledges from friends and family in the weeks preceding the event. At the event they will participate in a variety of modified ground games including bean bag toss, hoops and poles, and more!

After the games, participants can sit down and relax, have their face painted or visit with Bertie the Beaver before the evening BBQ and awards ceremony.

2012 Summer DAY CAMPS

This year we will be holding 4 different weeks of Integrated summer camps where kids, ages 7 and up, will get a mini snapshot of what it's like to own a horse. Each week consists of 5 days; Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kids will be learning from the ground up, not only the joy of riding but also what it takes to take care of a horse; grooming, chores, tack, etc. They will also be doing crafts and games that are all horse oriented, but most importantly having lots of fun, fun, fun! Each day will be different and hold new challenges for the riders. We provide snacks, you supply the lunch, and at the end of the week we have a BBQ & wagon ride for the riders. Our dates are: Week one -> July 23 to July 27; Week two -> July 30 to August 3; Week three -> August 13 to August 17; Week four -> August 20 to August 24.

Spots are limited and it doesn't take long to fill them for this camp, so make sure and register as soon as you can. The cost is $300 + membership fee per person per week. Contact our office to learn more or to register @ 780.538.3211

2012 Volunteer Appreciation Potluck

Every year PARDS sets a day to show all our volunteers how much they're appreciated. This year, tentativly, we will be holding it on December 2nd, 2012. All our volunteers are welcome to come to PARDS where we'll play games, eat, drink and be merry! We have fun little prizes for our games and lots and lots of food! Our Association exists because of the help of all our volunteers and the efforts they contribute to this community. So keep this date in mind and we hope to see you there!
